I had the pleasure of being part of the most exciting day in Washington, DC in a neighborhood that has grown very near and dear to my heart, Anacostia. The day [11.30.18] was lead by a Day of Action called by the International Iconic Classical musician, Yo-Yo Ma. Included in this was child protege and Grammy Award Winning Artist Esperanza Spalding. The quiet, humble and excited energy of moving through the neighborhood, greeting, and meeting with people who are activists, residents, government agency heads and business owners was not about who could get credit but how and what will be the outcome. The infamous Kennedy Center stepped into a neighborhood, that I feel is a village, getting a sense and understanding that they have neglected the East [Anacostia} for far too long for its history in the arts.
I am sure that there will be an outcome and I am excited to see and be part in any way I can. #CultureConnectsUs #ArtsAcrossAmerica
